summary:
In light of the 2020 constitutional amendment, aspects of cooperation between the legislative and executive branches in Algeria have significantly strengthened. Parliament's role in monitoring government work has been strengthened through new mechanisms that ensure greater transparency and effective accountability. Parliament now has the right to summon members of the government for periodic hearings and accountability, which enhances constructive dialogue between the two authorities. Parliament also had the power to discuss and amend laws proposed by the executive authority before approving them, which increases participation in the legislation process. Coordination between the National People's Assembly, the National Assembly, and the government has been improved through permanent joint committees, aimed at reviewing government policies and programs.This amendment enhances transparency and democracy and ensures a better balance between powers, which contributes to the stability of the political system and the promotion of sustainable development in the country. |
