*The chemical behavior of the steel electrode in acid solutions was studied by
Galvano's static polarization technique. The consequences of acid concentrations and the temperature of the solution were examined. It has been found that a higher concentration of citric acid or a reduction in the temperature of the solution promotes the passivation process. Icon values decrease with higher concentrations of citric acid solutions and the reduction in the temperature of the solution. The addition of increasing concentrations of aggressive anions such as Cl- and SO4- was also studied. The increase in the concentrations of these anions leads to the destruction of the passive film due to the increase in the density of the corrosion current, icon, and therefore the displacement of the corrosion potential, Ecorr, to more negative potentials.
