Résumé : |
Maritime transportation plays a crucial role in the economic globalization and corporate global integration. At the heart of port, management lies the efficient handling of containers, essential for the smooth operation of maritime ports. Loading and unloading containers are key operations that present challenges in optimizing container storage, especially with the continual increase in container volumes and spatial constraints at ports. The container storage problem is complex, classified as NP-hard, making exact resolution highly costly in terms of time and resources. To address this challenge, our project proposes the use of a metaheuristic algorithm called Bee Colony Optimization to provide an optimal container storage plan during unloading. This algorithm aims to determine ideal storage locations for each container while adhering to real storage constraints. The primary objective is to reduce transportation costs by minimizing vessel-waiting times at the quay through an optimized storage plan. To support our approach, we also compare the performance of the metaheuristic algorithm with the exact Branch and Bound algorithm, highlighting the computational cost limitations of the latter as the number of containers increases. Our case study focuses on the port of Bejaia, managed by BMT (Bejaia Mediterranean Terminal), a company specializing in container terminal management. Using real data and simulations, we evaluate the effectiveness of our proposed approach and its practical implications for optimizing port operations. |
